Abstract |
This study was to evaluate the impact on the job skills and adaptive behavior to people with disabilities through the topiary work. The participants were seven intellectual disabilities who live in P facility in Yeong-cheon, Gyungsangbuk-do. Topiary program was carried out for only one hour every Friday from 2 PM in October 27, 2008 to October 24, 2008. Before and after horticultural activities. Body ability and vocational action were improved as 4.6 points from 14.4 to 19.0 and 3.0 points from 16.4 to 19.7 through statistical analysis (P<0.05). For changes of skill and habit, pre-vocational action and socialization were improved as 1.26 points (4.14 to 5.40) and 2.85 points (7.57 to 10.42), respectively, at significant level (P<0.05). For changes of nature and action, antisocial action fell 2.0 points from 9.0 to 7.0 at significant level (P<0.05). From this results, horticultural works through step-by-step topiary activities were effective to intellectual disabilities. Therefore, vocational rehabilitation training is effective when long-term plans are built and horticultural works are step-by-step performed based on this results. |
