Abstract |
This study was carried out to investigate the protein synthesis and the detoxic effect of Salicornia herbacea L.(SH) extract. For SH extract to examine protein synthesis, the sulforhodamin B(SRB) assay of freeze-dried SH(FSH) extract or cold-dried SH(CSH) extract was done after the pretreated with SH extract for 2 hours before the treatment of cadmium chloride(CdCl₂). In this study, both of FSH and CSH extracts remarkably increased protein synthesis which was inhibited by CdCl₂. In the detoxic effect of SH extract, acetaldehyde(ACE) showed highly toxic effect by the decrease of cell viability. And FSH extract but CSH extract showed the detoxic effect by the significantly increase of cell viability which was decreased by ACE. From these results, it is suggested that SH extract may be a useful resource for health improvement by the increase of protein synthesis and detoxic effect. |
