Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the effects of flowering stage and shipping temperature(5℃, 20℃, 35℃) during 48hr on quality and senescence of cut flower in standard chrysanthemum ‘Iwanohakunsen’ (Dendranthema grandiflorum ‘Iwanohakusen’). Flower diameter of cut flower harvested in first or second stage was smaller than that harvested in fifth or sixth stage. When shipping temperature was high to 35℃, flower diameter was smaller rapidly than in shipping temperature of 5℃. Also, as shipping temperature was higher, cut flower harvested in second or six stage was more delayed for 2~8 days to maximum flower diameter. Regardless of shipping temperature, total solution uptake was much in cut flower of fourth or fifth stage, and solution uptake of cut flower in shipping temperature of 5℃ was more than that in shipping temperature of 35℃. Senescence of cut flower in shipping treatment of 20℃ or 35℃ was fastest than in shipping treatment of 5℃. In the days to 50% senescence rate, when cut flower was shipped at 5℃ compare with 35℃, senescence in cut flower of first, second, third or sixth stage was delayed 4.4 days, 3 days, and 2.7 or 3.7 days, respectively. It is effective to transport the cut flower of 6 stage for domestic distribution and of 3 stage for export, and the shipping treatment at 5℃ is recommended for maintaining the quality and extending the senescence of cut flower.
