Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the effects of flowering stage and shipping temperature(5℃, 20℃, 35℃) during 48hr on quality and senescence of cut flower in spray chrysanthemum ‘Leopard’(Dendranthema grandiflorum ‘Leopard’). Flower diameter of cut flower harvested in first or second stage was 2~4mm smaller than that harvested in five stage. When shipping temperature was high to 35℃, flowering was delayed and flower diameter was small rapidly since the 26th day after treatment. Fresh weight of cut flower was light in lower flowering stage, and that of second or fourth stage was lighter by 10~15g than that of fifth stage until the 30th day after treatment. Also, fresh weight of cut flower in shipping treatment at 35℃ was greatly lower than that at 5℃ and 20℃. Regardless of shipping temperature, total solution uptake was much in cut flower of fifth stage. And the lower the shipping temperature, the total solution uptake of cut flower was more. Regardless of flowering stage, senescence of cut flower in shipping treatment of 35℃ was fastest than the other treatments. In shipping treatment of 5℃ and 20℃, days to 50% senescence rate in first stage was 5.4 and 5.2 days longer respectively than that in fifth stage.
KeyWords: Days to senescence, Dendranthema grandiflorum, Flower diameter, Fresh weight, Total solution uptake
