Abstract
This study surveyed forest interpreters’ activities and perceptions of children’s garden constructed in Korea National Arboretum on May 2011. The 32 forest interpreters were asked to select how do they think about activities, plants, and operation programs of children’s garden. By analyzing answers, we could suggest improving ways of children’s garden and come up with an effective plan for improving professionalism of interpreters. First of all, an information about children’s garden should be provided actively, because most of interpreters who did not major in biology or environmental education felt difficulty when they interpreted children’s garden. About operation programs, it still has a room for developing diverse education programs as affected by variable ecosystem and providing orientation about environmental education using plants of children’s garden. Finally, for effective operation of children’s garden, differentiated information should be provided as affected by major of interpreters. These results will offer an opportunity for improving professionality of forest interpreters and provide a chance to activating the programs in children’s garden.
